$$Monster Greed$$ |

This website is provided to present factual information about Monster Cable. Monster Cable is a USA company based in San Francisco that sells speaker cables and audio connection products worldwide and was founded by Noel Lee. There is great debate among audiophiles as to the value of expensive cabling products, but there is little debate that Monster Cable is a great marketing company. Many have heard of the greed of Enron, WorldCom and other US companies, but this was one we heard about that compelled us to do some research. What we found was shocking. Combine corporate greed with frivolous lawyers and you get Monster Greed. The justification of Monster Cable is trademark dilution, a Federal Act developed to protect brands like Nike, Kodak, Toro and Duracell. It was not intended to allow companies that use common dictionary words to monopolize their usage. If you find this as much of an outrage as the OJ Simpson case (he claims to still be working hard to find the killer) then do two things. First boycott Monster Cable products and tell everyone you know to do the same. If we can take away some of their endless supply of money for lawyers that should slow them down. Second, tell Monster Cable how you feel about them. Below is their contact information:
Better yet, go buy a bunch of Monster Cable products and return them the next day of you don't feel their marketing clams live up to the performance improvement you hear for the amount of money you spent. President Noel

article Interview of Dave Tognotti in a In the Article
Dave makes the following statement Then in the Home Theater Forum post below responds to someone who wrote him a letter with the following: "He (Noel) named the company "Monster" and created the Monster brand long before anyone else had the courage or marketing foresight to call a company and its products "Monster." This is but one of countless examples of where "the truth" changes. Monster Cable continually refers to itself as a small company. Small companies don't have $5M worth of cars at the HQ for the executives to drive, nor do they pay $6M for naming rights to a stadium or have over $300M in annual sales One that is ironic is the claim they are "protecting their mark against dilution", yet they struck a secret deal with Monster.com job board. We are trying to determine if this included "Pre-IPO" stock in Monster.com. Note the link at the bottom of www.Monster.com to Monster Cable's website. The irony is Monster.com has become the company most people think of when you refer to the word Monster. It appears that as long as they can make money "protecting their mark" the it's acceptable for others to "dilute" it.
Factoid: When you by a $2500 TV, a $800 Surround Sound system and $350 worth of Monster Cables to connect it all, the salesperson makes twice as much commission on the cables as on the TV and Sound System . . . hmmmmmm . . . something does not add up here but it sure does make Monster Cable a very rich company. Did we mention the "Monster Garage" at Monster Cable headquarters with $Millions$ worth of exotic cars the owners and lawyers share?
